B.C.’s December Forecast Just Dropped And Some Regions Will Receive A White Christmas

by Amy Huang |

We cover everything you need to know about the drop in temperature, including if your holidays are going to be snowy enough to build that snowman.

B.C. Weather Forecast

The Old Farmer’s Almanac just dropped their Christmas Winter Forecast for 2025, detailing basically everything you need to know about this year’s chance of snow– and where.

Although, it’s good to remember the general, long-range winter forecast that the Old Farmer’s Almanac first published for November and December. The predictions include a wet and slushy end to November. Rainy periods should be expected with a chilly breeze, heralding winter weather.

Environment Canada predicts that flurries and snow are in the forecast for Metro Vancouver, but not until December 20, the day before the official winter season begins. It’s not expected to be a snowstorm, but the flurries may be present throughout the weekend.

Still, it’s best to get those winter tires on sooner rather than later, especially considering that they’ve been required since October!

White Christmas In B.C.

So, the snow is starting in mid-December, but will it last until Christmas? And where in B.C. will it be snowy?

To start with the places that will not have a white Christmas, you can count northwestern B.C. out for 2025. Moreover, southern B.C. has only a chance to see snow during the jolliest time of the year. This is due to storm tracks and temperatures, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

The only area in the province that the Old Farmer’s Almanac says will have a white Christmas is central and northeastern B.C. If you’re up there, then you better bundle up this December!

If you live in Vancouver, you may be in for a slightly snowy Christmas. According to Environment Canada, December 25 is facing a 60% of rain showers or flurries. While it may not be the winter wonderland you were hoping for, it’s still something! Nevertheless, it’s important to remember that this is just a prediction, and that the weather can change at any moment.
