by Amy Huang |

We’ve broken down the most important details so you know exactly where the most cheap and affordable vacation spots are.

Popular Destinations

According to Kayak, Europe is dominating Canadian travel interest right now at a 24% increase in overall regional interest.

In the top 10 of Canada’s top trending destinations of 2026, seven are located in Europe. And out of those seven, two cities are way ahead of the others in popularity: Berlin and Milan. Kayak says that, “Together, they represent a shift toward more design-forward, culture-rich itineraries that go beyond the traditional Western Europe circuit… Canadians are chasing a combo of authenticity and easier access (thanks to some added routes between Toronto and Berlin in 2025), and these cities deliver.”

Here’s a look at the top 5 destinations with the strongest YOY growth in flight interest.

Other Hot Spots

But Europe isn’t the only place Canadians want to visit this year. Flights to the Caribbean are up by 21%, driven by folks craving some sunshine and warmth, as well as having access to easy direct flights. Some of the most popular island destinations include Bridgetown, Barbados (+96%) and Castries, St. Lucia (+91%).

Domestic travel is also way up in 2026. In fact, Kayak has seen a 12% increase in flight searches throughout Canada when compared to 2025. Kayak has provided a peek at the most affordable domestic cities that you can visit in the new year.

Cheap and Affordable Vacation Spots

To get the most bang for your buck, Asia is where you should be flying to. With an overall 10% drop in airfare, Canadians are seeing huge deals when it comes to heading overseas to these Asian destinations.
