Ciclo Café, the sleek converted shipping container that’s already a go-to for its in-house roasted espresso and Panino Porta sandwiches, has just launched a licensed patio cocktail program. It’s the first café patio of its kind in Vancouver, and possibly Canada, to blend your morning coffee run with an evening aperitivo, all in the same spot.
From Espresso to Aperitivo
Owner Fabrizio says the idea is simple: “Europeans have long embraced the idea of lingering in the same spot throughout the day, espresso in the morning, a light lunch at noon, and a cocktail in the evening. Ciclo at The Post brings that rhythm of life to the heart of Vancouver.”
By day, the container café hums with tech workers, downtown locals, and passersby grabbing espresso and Ciclo’s famous Panino Porta. These folded Italian panini, made with imported ingredients, have become such a hit they often sell out before lunch.
Come afternoon, the mood shifts. The aroma of coffee mingles with the clink of glassware as charcuterie and cheese boards make their way to tables, alongside a new cocktail menu. It’s an urban aperitivo moment that feels like it’s been plucked straight from Rome or Barcelona and dropped into downtown Vancouver.
What’s on the Cocktail Menu
Available Monday to Friday, the patio drink list is short, classic, and intentional — exactly what you’d expect from a European café. Highlights include:
-
Aperol Spritz
-
Classic Negroni
-
Ciclo’s Signature Espresso Martini
-
Fresh Margarita
-
Mini Moët & Chandon (200ml)
-
Select wines, Peroni and Peroni Zero
-
Non-alcoholic options for those skipping the booze
Pair your drink with a shareable charcuterie or cheese board, and you’ve got a perfect late-afternoon reset before heading home (or maybe back to the office for one last email).
A First in Vancouver and Maybe Canada
While cafés serving alcohol aren’t new, Ciclo’s downtown patio concept is rare in North America. The Post’s plaza setting blends the buzz of Vancouver’s tech district with the slow-living ethos of European street life. The result is a spot that’s equally suited to a quick solo espresso or a two-hour catch-up with friends over cocktails.
Limited seating means timing is everything, sunny afternoons can fill up fast. And since this is a first-come, first-serve summer offering, your best bet is to plan ahead, especially if you’ve got your heart set on a Negroni in the golden hour glow.
More Than a Café
Ciclo Espresso is part of Per Se Hospitality Group, the Vancouver-based restaurant collective behind Acquafarina and Social Corner. Known for design-forward spaces and a commitment to “Real Dreams. Real People. Real Food,” Per Se blends European charm with West Coast energy in every concept it creates.
With this latest move, Ciclo is showing that Vancouver café culture can stretch beyond coffee and croissants, into cocktails, conversation, and community, all in one place.
