Eight New Year’s Eve Events In Vancouver To Fit Any Style Of Celebration

Prohibition is the perfect place to celebrate a glamorous NYE.

For a glamorous date night: Prohibition New Year’s Party at Rosewood Hotel Georgia  Dress up in your glitziest flapper dresses and bossest bowties and make for Prohibition at the glamorous Rosewood Hotel Georgia. The underground cocktail bar is hosting a speakeasy-style evening featuring welcome champagne, live music by COLLEKTIV, an extensive cocktail and drinks list, and an array of bubbles with which to bid 2017 a fond farewell come midnight. Treat yourself to an overnight stay at the hotel and saunter up to bed at your leisure. Tickets start at $55, and the event commences at 9pm.

For a costume party deep down the rabbit hole: Mad NYE Party at UVA Wine & Cocktail Bar  Curiouser and curiouser: UVA’s Alice in Wonderland cocktail party promises a night of magical drinks, tasty food and delightful silliness. Guests will enjoy three flavourful courses – mushroom fritti with chive oil and black garlic; braised rabbit cannelloni accompanied by ricotta salad and roasted squash; and panna cotta with crushed cookies and preserves – before the dancing and revelery begins. Dress up in your Wonderland best and join the madness for just $88 per person. The event starts at 7.30pm.

For comedy gaffes with your besties: Vancouver TheatreSports League Year in Review  End the year on a high as Vancouver TheatreSports League finds the funny in the events that shaped 2017 (think Russian hacking, fake news and celebrity scandals). Grab a group of friends and book the 11.15pm show on New Year’s Eve – you’ll enjoy a fall-out-of-your-seat-funny performance complete with audience participation, then break out party favours and bubbles (included in ticket price) just in time for midnight. What better way to start the new year than by laughing your way into it?

For a celebration the entire family will enjoy: Concord’s NYE Vancouver  The biggest New Year’s Eve party in Vancouver returns with live musical performances, food trucks catering to every palate, an early evening fireworks display for families with little ones, and a midnight countdown complete with spectacular fireworks over Coal Harbour. Admission is free.

For a naughtier New Year’s Eve: Rio Theatre’s Annual Naughty Little New Year’s Eve Emceed by comedian Patrick Maliha – who has appeared on The Comedy Network, CTV,CBC, Roundhouse Radio and more – the Rio’s enchanting event features a whirlwind of burlesque, magicians, comedians and other variety acts to keep partyers entertained well past midnight. Tickets cost $25 ($45 at the door) and include entry, party favours and a glass of bubbles to ring in the new year.

For a decadent feast in a mountaintop wonderland: Grouse Mountain’s New Year’s Eve Snowshoe Fondue  Gather the family or a tribe of friends and welcome the new year from atop Grouse Mountain. The resort will host a series of one-hour guided snowshoe tours, each followed by a feast in Altitudes Bistro where you can indulge in the triple threat of cheese, chocolate and broth fondues. Your group can opt for a pre-party adventure (noon and 4pm starts), or a later trip at 7pm. The experience costs $95 ($85 for members), and includes the tour, headlamp and snowshoe rentals; Skyride access; and fondue feast.

NYE at Telus World of Science will ring in 2018 in the heart of the city.

For eye-popping lighting and sound, and an unparalleled view: Telus World of Science New Year’s Eve. Party under the iconic False Creek dome during this epic evening that will host up to 1,100 revelers. The event will take over two floors of the landmark venue with five fully licensed bars, eight of Vancouver’s top DJs and performers providing entertainment all night long, and a stunning view overlooking False Creek and Olympic Village. Tickets start at $80 and include entry as well as a glass of champagne for the midnight toast.

For an immersive adventure in Gotham City: A Costume Ball at Wayne Manor, hosted by Brock House Restaurant Dive into Batman’s world at this multisensory event that transforms Brock House Restaurant into Wayne Manor, which happens to be hosting Gotham City Policemens’ Masquerade Ball. Guests are encouraged to explore every alcove and corridor of Bruce Wayne’s stately home in search of hidden scenes, live performers and clues that bring to life a shrouded history. The grand finale takes place in the ballroom where guests will dance, sip champagne and toast 2018.
