HANG WITH MOOSE WHILE RELAXING IN THE 2ND LARGEST HOT SPRINGS IN CANADA

by Amy Huang |

The second largest hot spring in all of Canada, Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park features eight pools, one of which is open to the public.

The public pool (otherwise known as the Alpha pool), however, is open to any visitor, and lazily moves in between 42 to 52 degrees celsius – perfect for a pit stop off of the Alaskan highway.

While most widely known for its hot springs, the provincial park also has an abundance of luscious greenery, giving off a tropical air. A variety of wildlife including moose and plants inhabit the lush area, who rely on the springs for cultivation.

Open year-round, the springs are most popular in the summer. Winter is optimally the best time to go, the warm pool water a stark contrast to the soft surrounding snow.

If you were to opt to stay overnight, Liard River Hot Springs Lodge or Northern Rockies Lodge are both relatively close.
