Vancouverites can grab a blanket, hop on the Skyride, and enjoy a blockbuster under the stars with a backdrop that makes every other theatre feel boring.
Movies on the Mountain at Grouse Mountain

The Movies on the Mountain series runs every Thursday evening from July 31 to August 28, 2025, transforming the Birds in Motion Viewing Area into Vancouver’s highest open‑air theatre. This year’s lineup is packed with nostalgic hits and big‑screen adventures:
• July 31 – The Parent Trap (1998)
• August 7 – Shrek (2001)
• August 14 – Mission Impossible: Fallout (2018)
• August 21 – The Lion King (1994)
• August 28 – Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
Seating is first‑come, first‑served, so showing up early is a smart move. It also gives you time to grab dinner from Rusty Rail BBQ before it closes at 9 pm. A blanket or jacket is essential because even in August, the mountaintop chill is real.
Tickets are included with a Grouse Mountain Annual Pass, or you can grab a Sunset Special ticket for $29 after 6 pm, which includes the Skyride up the mountain and your movie night in the sky. Whether it’s a date night, friends’ outing, or just swapping the couch for some mountain air, this is easily one of the most unique summer experiences in Vancouver.
