This April, The Key Vancouver officially opens at Plaza of Nations with a launch run headlined by French Montana and Dr. Fresch. The new 1,000-capacity venue sits at 750 Pacific Blvd, steps from BC Place and Rogers Arena, and aims to redefine what mid-size shows feel like in this city.
From hip hop and EDM to rock, comedy, and country, The Key plans to program across genres. However, its core promise stays the same: artist-first production in an immersive environment.
A New Stage for Vancouver’s Touring Scene
For years, Vancouver has lacked a true high-production venue in the 1,000-capacity range. Smaller clubs limit technical capability. Meanwhile, arenas create distance between artists and fans.
The Key positions itself squarely in between.
The venue features 3,000 square feet of LED screens and a state-of-the-art sound system built directly into the architecture of the room. As a result, artists can design shows that feel intentional and cinematic, even at a mid-size scale.
Rather than competing with the performer, the technology supports them. Lighting, visuals, and sound work together to enhance the experience. In turn, the audience stays fully immersed from the first track to the encore.
The space itself leans into a modern, dark-toned aesthetic with bold LED integration. The design keeps focus on the stage. At the same time, it creates a high-impact visual identity that separates The Key from traditional event halls.
Opening Weekend Lineup

The Key launches with two major acts already confirmed.
On April 3, bass-house innovator Dr. Fresch brings his high-energy show to the new venue. Known for blending hip hop influences with electronic production, Dr. Fresch thrives in rooms built for heavy sound and sharp visuals.
Two nights later, on April 5, multi-platinum rapper French Montana takes the stage. His appearance signals the venue’s intent from day one. The Key does not plan to ease into relevance. It plans to arrive with impact.
Additional shows for April and May are expected soon. According to the team behind the venue, the spring calendar is already filling up quickly.
Not Just an EDM Venue
Although electronic acts will play a major role in programming, The Key does not want to define itself by one genre.
Instead, the team envisions a flexible cultural stage. Hip hop tours, live bands, comedy specials, country crossovers, and special event performances will all have a home here. That diversity matters. It broadens the audience. It also strengthens Vancouver’s touring ecosystem.
Importantly, the venue aims to rebuild social energy around live performance. Over the past few years, many operators have struggled to bring audiences back consistently. The Key wants to change that narrative.
By focusing on integrity, production quality, and artist support, the venue hopes to create a space where people feel energized and safe. Ultimately, the goal is simple: give Vancouver a reason to go out again.
Filling a Long-Standing Gap
The Plaza of Nations location adds another layer of significance. The area already anchors major sporting and entertainment events. However, it has lacked a consistent quality mid-size concert venue that operates year-round.
The Key fills that gap.
With 1,000-person capacity, the room offers scale without sacrificing intimacy. Artists can connect with fans directly. At the same time, promoters gain a technically advanced room that can handle ambitious stage designs.
That balance could make The Key attractive to national and international touring acts looking for a serious Vancouver stop.
Part of a Growing Entertainment Portfolio
The Key operates under The Key Collection, a Vancouver-based hospitality and entertainment group focused on experience-driven venues.
In addition, Unlocked Entertainment serves as the programming and talent arm behind the new space. That division works with agents, promoters, and artists across multiple genres to build a long-term touring pipeline in the city.
Together, the two brands aim to strengthen Vancouver’s position on the North American tour circuit.
Tickets and What’s Next
Tickets for opening weekend shows go on sale soon, with further April and May announcements expected in the coming weeks.
If the launch lineup signals anything, it’s this: The Key Vancouver does not plan to open quietly. Instead, it plans to unlock a new era of live entertainment, one defined by immersive production, diverse programming, and an unapologetic focus on the artist experience.
