You’ll want to book a trip to Whistler and get your camera ready ASAP.
A new, interactive experience is getting ready to light up the night in Whistler this summer.
Vallea Lumina is an immersive, light-up night walk created by Montreal-based entertainment studio, Moment Factory and Whistler’s very own “The Adventure Group.”
The 1.5 km walk is staged at Cougar Mountain. Located just eight minutes north of Whistler Village, the night walk uses the lush rainforest and a stunning array of mountain and valley views as the backdrop.
Through the use of emotive lights, video, soundscape, and scenography, guests are “transported” to another world with opportunities to touch, play, and explore their new environment.
In addition to their “Lumina” night walk series, held in seven different locations across the globe, the company is also famous for creating mesmerizing environments for Madonna, Arcade Fire, the Sagrada Familia, and the NFL, to name a few.
This will be the first-ever Lumia instalment in British Columbia, but judging from photos of previous events across the country, the show will be nothing short of amazing.
Valley Lumina launches on Wednesday, July 18, and will run daily until October. The experience begins at sundown and walks will occur every 20 minutes.
The trail will take approximately one hour to complete and a complimentary shuttle will be provided to transport visitors between Whistler Village and Cougar Mountain.
Tickets cost $29 for visitors over the age of 16, $24 for ages six to 15, and children under the age of five receive free admission.
